Tonight we'll idolize the shooting stars and meteorites
Nothing like an August night to rekindle this auroral light
Nothing like a quick glance in your kaleidoscopic eyes
To forget about everything that isn't quite right

The way you hide yourself in these shadows
I am worried I might lose you
The way you move is almost proof that
You could elude the moon if you tried to
There's a man there you can see on clear black nights
He'll make you offer to come back through the heavens
So he can finally turn off the light
That he's left on for you for what seems like an eternity
But I left one on for you too, and I'm hoping you will stay with me

The way you carry yourself so high
I am worried you might float away
The way you speak so unabashedly
Without trying you always find the right thing to say

So let the sky come down on me tonight
There's no way I deserve this
