Eggbound Mutebone Songtext

Once upon a time
I spent my lunch hour feeling fine
The sun hanging over ev'ry shoulder
Melting the gloom.
A bearded fellow, serene and mellow
In a two piece tracksuit (blue and yellow)
Approached, the roach in my fingers
Slipped I assume.
He claimed he knew that I felt blue
I spent my lunch hour feeling fine
The sun hanging over ev'ry shoulder
Melting the gloom.
A bearded fellow, serene and mellow
In a two piece tracksuit (blue and yellow)
Approached, the roach in my fingers
Slipped I assume.
He claimed he knew that I felt blue
I did of course, but then what's new?
Either way I stayed to hear him out
For a few minutes more.
Lo and behold his name was Ian
No surprises, Ian was a Christian
Handing leaflets
go
no chance he's got hold.
He told me God's word is the bible
I thought yes, but is his word reliable?
Ian read my mind, or maybe my eyes...
And said â??Yes, my friend, you can depend
On Jesus, God and in Heaven.â?
I thought Christ, I wish I could,
then I thought some more.
If I've no faith in my bus timetable
How can I have faith in the Holy Bible?
How can I rely on anything now?
If he believes that life's sole purpose Is in serving God I should be nervous
- self service catering can panic me
And if there is a meaning to my life
I think I've worked it out, alright
And it's not some grand creation in the sky
It's just playing new girls ancient records
Well aware that they won't like those records
And trying not to feel awkward
When I'm proved right.
Either way I stayed to hear him out
For a few minutes more.
Lo and behold his name was Ian
No surprises, Ian was a Christian
Handing leaflets
go
no chance he's got hold.
He told me God's word is the bible
