Jimme's Song Songtext
Songtext powered by LyricFind
Jimme takes his time as he washes his eyes and then makes his bed up and heads for the outside.
And it doesn't make a difference every once in a while.
If you've got nothing to do but sit around and think about how nothing he could do would ever feel good.
But he knows you gotta get a job if you're looking to move on.
Like every body else but it's the same thing.
Always the same dream keeping him from moving.
Saying I don't wanna do nothing but be in a rock band.
I don't wanna get a job.
I don't wanna be a man.
I don't wanna do nothing but be in a rock band.
I don't wanna do nothing at all.
I don't wanna do nothing at all.
But then the bills pour in and he thinks he'd like to swim.
But he still wont go anywhere.
Until he gets too deep, they got him swimming in his sleep.
Until he needs to ??? something.
And so he pulls a job down at the landfill and he don't mind working outside.
Lookin' out on the turnpike.
But the days go by.
And the fire inside tells him he'll never be right til the day that he dies.
Saying I don't wanna do nothing but be in a rock band.
I don't wanna get a job.
I don't wanna be a man.
I don't wanna do nothing but be in a rock band.
I don't wanna do nothing at all.
I don't wanna do nothing at all.
All his words fall down through the cracks in between.
And spread like sunlight down on the world underneath.
But up here they falter nowhere. They're just a feeling he needs.
As he drives through the weeks. Through the swamps and through his sleep.
And he's talking like he's holding a gun in his hand.
But there ain't nobody there it's just him waving his hand.
And when he drives home to his van to get his cup of coffee.
Three sugars and 2 dollar.
And back to work another day another hour.
It gets older by the minute.
But there's nobody around who can understand looking at a young man feeling like no one ever noticed him.
You work the same day over and over.
I don't wanna do nothing but be in a rock band.
I don't wanna get a job.
I don't wanna be a man.
I don't wanna do nothing at all.
I don't wanna do nothing but be in a rock band.
I don't wanna do nothing at all.
I don't wanna do nothing at all.
But then the bills pour in and he thinks he'd like to swim.
