Jodie Makes A Fire Songtext
Songtext powered by LyricFind
Jodie bought a blue dress
And put it in her suitcase
And headed for the north coast
For to get some time away
She put her suitcase down in a little tourist town
And found herself an hostel bed
With the grey pacific ocean
At her window while she slept
And put it in her suitcase
And headed for the north coast
For to get some time away
She put her suitcase down in a little tourist town
And found herself an hostel bed
With the grey pacific ocean
At her window while she slept
Well now there was a party
The boys had made a fire
So she put on her blue dress
And walked down to the beach
I don't know what happened but when she was unpacking
I saw a tear in her blue dress
And no more would she tell me
So I can only guess
Last night I heard her walking
Sleepless up and down the hallway
She would not come back to bed
She left me lying on my own
No windows had been broken no locks had been forced open
Nothing's missing from the jewellery case
But something has been stolen
That cannot be replaced
So Jodie makes a fire
In the backyard in the morning
And throws on it the blue dress
And it burns like pine and leaves
The smoke and ashes form a small white cloud above the lawn
She watches it rise slowly up
And I make her tea and porridge
Two sugars in the cup
The boys had made a fire
So she put on her blue dress
And walked down to the beach
I don't know what happened but when she was unpacking
I saw a tear in her blue dress
And no more would she tell me
So I can only guess
Last night I heard her walking
Sleepless up and down the hallway
She would not come back to bed
She left me lying on my own
No windows had been broken no locks had been forced open
Nothing's missing from the jewellery case
But something has been stolen
That cannot be replaced
So Jodie makes a fire
In the backyard in the morning
And throws on it the blue dress
And it burns like pine and leaves
The smoke and ashes form a small white cloud above the lawn
She watches it rise slowly up
And I make her tea and porridge
Two sugars in the cup
