Mere Mortal Songtext
Rumbles from the bottom of another afternoon
That feels empty, lost, abandoned, on its arse, without a hope
And the least assuming corner’s sense of misery increases
All that’s clung to is what could be round that corner
Yesterday’s an age away and age won’t take this force away
A force which has ability to cripple, beat and stamp
And stamp it does, and your chest’s a foot outweighing what’s been felt
And hope returns but manifests itself as want for somewhere else
What’s a mere mortal to do? (to do)
Sеarching far and wide kick up a fuss, a storm, a frenzy
Leavеs one flustered and starved as though there is no other page to turn
Cause everything seems blank without an explanation’s cradle
And that corner still implies another greeting’s on the table
And this greeting, though a prospect, might just keep one upright
Like a set of crutches set aside for optimists to walk with
And the foot that pins your body to the ground might in significance reduce
Because a foot’s far from eternal
What’s (a mere)
A mere mortal (mortal) to do, to do?
What’s (a mere)
A mere mortal (mortal) to do, t-t-t-t-to do?
Questions seeking partners
Not always in existence
Without them, keep up questions
And find the comeback that suits you
If it comes pushing let it through Straight as an arrow, loop-de-loop
And find your own two ones make two
What else?
What’s (a mere)
A mere mortal (mortal) to do, to do?
What’s (a mere)
A mere mortal (mortal) to do, t-t-t-t-to do?
(What’s) What’s a mere mortal to do? (a mere mortal)
What’s a mere mortal to do?
What’s a mere mortal to do?
